I've read that mobgrief set to false prevents villagers from breeding, also making fully automated farming impossible. Is this the case?

I just lost my horse in a tragic nether related accident, and my only saddle along with it. Would anyone be so kind to trade me a saddle or two? Also, I am on a desperate hunt for an elytra. I know they are hard to come by, but if anyone has a spare... Name a price.
