Been Griefed? / Ender Ender
November 09, 2017, 05:50:04 am
Some blocks knocked out of the Enderman Grinder's entrance rail.  At the terminating end of the entrance rail.

I find things needing repair here about every 2nd or 3rd time I come.
Not even my build: I just want it to remain nice.

It's getting tiresome, finding that someone has broken pieces of it again and again.

If you break something that's not yours, could you please just put it back?

Announcements / FronkTech Witcherizer Open For Use!
June 01, 2017, 10:13:16 pm
[Fronk isn't really feeling the creative spark today, so he's asked me to write the announcement.]

Fellow ImgurCraftians, FronkTech Ltd. is pleased to announce the grand opening of our Northwest Quadrant Witcherizer!
Inconveniently located because witches do what they want, we are found at (-4541, -5048) in the Overworld.  Whether you prefer to arrive via land, sea, air, or Nether, we accommodate your travel strategy.  Directions through the Nether are provided below.

We are open to all, and the drops are free, with a couple slight provisions.
Please be sure to read the rules section.  We don't want to have to shut down the farm.

Firstly, lets look at what goodies you can nab here...

Goodies Witches Drop

     - Redstone Dust
     - Glowstone Dust
     - Gunpowder
     - Sugar
     - Spider Eyes
     - Glass Bottles
     - Sticks

Each is sorted into its own collection chest.
This is done partly for your convenience, and partly because building a sorter makes us feel pretty cool.
Plus, in case of unforseen weirdness (hey, Heisenberg wasn't wrong... -ooor was he...?), we have provided a chest for miscellaneous & overflow.  The overflow chest also feeds into a trash disposal, should you need one.  It's frightfully complicated.  There's a lever.

In addition to witch drops, we have provided the following harvestables:

     - Nether Wart (indoor nursery)
     - Wheat (indoor field)
     - Vines

We have also provided several additional amenities.

     - On/Off switch:  Please turn the farm off when not in use.
     - Crafting Station:  Crafting Table, Anvil, Brewing Stands (2), Infinite Water, Ender Chest.
     - Furnaces
     - Bed
     - Boat Entrance:  With holding chest.  Only take whatever boats you brought.
     - Nether Portal:  Horse friendly.  Our portal will not suffocate your horse, nor crack your skull when you dismount.
     - Horse Stalls:  Safe indoor stalls for your steed.

The farm and all the surrounding area are fully lit up to shut down hostile mob spawning anywhere but in the witches' spawn chambers.  Please leave the torches & other lighting intact, or hostile mobs will spawn and erode the production rate of the farm.  Fronk wants me to specifically say: "Less Light = Less Loot."  I guess we could call that the 4L rule?

Last thing before I list the rules of the farm:
Remember that hostile mob spawning (without block spawners) in a multiplayer world is not as cut & dry as it is in a singleplayer world.  Basically, they're like cats: they'll come when they want to, and not a moment before.  Sometimes it takes a while (even multiple minutes) before the witches start spawning.  Be patient.  If you are patient, they will come.  Another bit of pithy witticism from Fronk: "Patience = Profit."

Enjoy!

-----------------
  RULES
-----------------

1.  Keep Consumables Stocked
   - Bring fuel as needed for brewing stands & furnaces.
   - Replace the anvil if it breaks.
   - Replant the nether wart & wheat.

2.  Do not fiddle in the Maintenance areas
   - They are clearly marked with signs.
   - They are behind iron doors.
   - They are for FronkTech personnel only.

3.  Leave the trees be
   - If you must chop down trees, please replant every one.
   - Trees are friends, not food.

4.  Don't take someone else's loot
   - If someone is afk there, let it be.

5.  Don't hog the farm and afk there forever
   - It's not your private farm, it's there for everybody.

----------------------
  DIRECTIONS
----------------------

From the Nether Hub
Take the West Tunnel to (-1105, 30)
Turn North, go to (-1105, -635)
Turn East, into a glass-sided tunnel.  Go East until you find a portal.
Through that portal is the Witcherizer.

(A more direct & convenient tunnel connection is under consideration for a future project.)

We have sent our premiere trading ship, the graceful Fiona Belle, to initiate commerce.

Community / Request for stickies: Dynmap & Discord
April 04, 2017, 03:09:18 am
Under the heading of lazy doofuses' problems...

It would be helpful for doofuses like me - and more especially for folks new to the server - if our links to both the Dynmap and Discord were stickied at the top of this section.  Perhaps with a subject like, "Useful Links".

I know (I): we can have browser bookmarks for the Dynmap and Discord.  And I do.  But sometimes - such as just now - my brain blocks against using my browser's bookmarks.  I blame the tin foil hat.  It's been fitting a bit tight, lately.  It's quite stylish though, so I am loathe to remove it.

I know (II): there is a splash screen now, giving nice big obvious clickies to both of them.  But most often my browser skips that page and puts me right in the forum page here - and from here, there is no link back to the splash screen.

This is not a big problem, by any stretch - but I think it would be a super easy fix.
Could we please have the Dynmap and Discord info stickied at the top of this forum area?

General Discussion / Apologies, everyone!
March 28, 2017, 05:35:14 pm
Hey all,

Fish got me a message, letting me know my iron farm was causing a problem by lagging the server.  Attracting too many zombies that would not despawn while someone afk's at it.  I am still relatively new to playing in a MP Minecraft environment, and not fully versed in all the things that cause significant server lag.  If I had realized my iron farm was causing a problem, I would have corrected it long before this!

I came home between appointments to log Fronk out, and I have let him know what's going on.  Neither he nor I will be afk'ing there until I can more properly mob-proof the area.  I will check in with folks more MP-experienced than myself before opening my iron farm back up for afk'ing.

Very sorry for the trouble, everyone!   :-[

Hey all!

I have found a more efficient way to produce wood.
Less time, less effort.
This means better pricing for you!

New prices on wood:

Oak =         1d/stack
Spruce =     2d/stack
Dark Oak =  4d/stack
Birch =        2d/stack
Jungle =      3d/stack
Acacia =      5d/stack

As ever, I believe in offering help for someone in need.  (For example, someone new to the server.)  If you can afford to purchase from the stalls, please do.  But if you can't: any wood in the Information chest is offered for free.

Cheers!

General Discussion / Testificate Trading, Inc.

Howdy all!

So, King_Ozy and I have been nurturing our growing tradition of putting our noggins together and germinating grandiose, life threatening ideas.  (Plus, I appear to be trying to win an imaginary bet concerning how awkward and pretentious I can make my communique's.  Lucky you.)

One notion we are toying dangerously with is that of building a hall at Spawn, filled with villagers for trading.  What makes the idea dangerous, you didn't ask?  -Apologies, but some mysteries are better left unrevealed for funtime discovery.  However, the testificates will testify (because I'm threatening them with digital agony-) that the idea is, indeed, laden with the kind of danger ordinarily mentioned only in certain sections of the Christian bible.  Well... and Hollywood films.  Aaaand, maybe huge sections of the library.  And maybe my diary.  But I'm totally too macho to be keeping a diary, so ignore that last part.  (Please?)

So, the notion of a villager trading hall at Spawn...
-->  Bunches of villagers for to be trading with.
-->  No auto farms.
-->  Perhaps a crop blaster or two for food-like plant thingies with which to wheedle emeralds out of the grasping fingers of the greedy greedy, one-percenter, rich-as-duck farmers.  (I have a daughter and I want to avoid cursing, okay?  Don't fuckin' judge me.)  Y'all would  need to bring y'all's own bone meal for the crop blasters, but there are a number of public-use bone farms around.  ...y'all.
-->  No auto farms.
-->  Just villagers, and one or two at-keyboard machines.
-->  Maybe a polar bear.  ('cause what's better'n a fricken' POLAR BEAR??!?)

See, our idea is to put a good & useful pastle of profitable people at Spawn, but without instigating Lagageddon every time somebody visits and loads in the chunk.

And... y'know... maybe some entertaining nihilistic danger, too.  (Have you ever seen a villager sweat bullets?  It's glorious.)

So, we wish to put the idea out there for review...
Would you welcome such a thing?

Howdy all!

One byproduct of growing and chopping oodles of oak trees for all your woodly desires [you're welcome, Fish] is that I find myself with way more apples than a single Borderlad has need of.  Just the other day, the shop steward of the Chickens Union (Cluckers & Layers Local 512) kicked in my door and asked, "Hey boss, what's with all the freakin' apples?  There's no room left for us to cluck!"  The steward was somewhat less polite than that, actually, but I trust you get the idea.  So it seems prudent to find a way to remove them.  -The apples, not the chickens.  Chickens got beaks, and it hurts when crowds of 'em get mad.  Everything goes all feathers & pain.

So, rather than dump all my apples into the Trashinator 9000 (TM), I figured I might see if anybody else has a need for the delicious fruit that got a couple prehistoric scofflaws kicked off the lawn.

I went to my in-house grocer, a loudmouthed fellow named Donnie, and asked him what he usually charges for apples...
  "I'm glad you asked, Laddie.  Can I call you Laddie?"
  "No.  That's not-"
  "Great!  Now Laddie, I sell my apples for two diamond blocks each.  They're good apples, see.  The best apples.  They're sprinkled with mold, and fortified with worms.  Mold, see, that's where penicillin comes from, so it's a good thing.  A great thing!  And the worms, they're big, see, really big.  They're YUUGE!  We're gonna make apples great again.  We're gonna-"

At this point, I pulled a lever and opened the trapdoor beneath his merchant stall, dropping him down the Dr. Evil Chute (TM) onto a magma block surrounded by cacti.  The memory of his agonized screams and death rattle will nourish my soul for weeks to come.

I have since hired a new grocer, who feels that 1 emerald is a fair price for 6 of his apples.
I figure I can offer mine for less.

I am beginning with my apples priced at 1 emerald for 10 apples.

If I find I still have more apples than I need, and if the very assertive Chickens Union steward continues making...  *suggestions* that I make more room still for all their noisy fu -clucking, then I will bring the price down even more.  We will see.

So, while you already know Borderlad's Lumber Depot as the place to go to get wood, we are now also your underground go-to for the fruit of sin!

[Alright, Fish, I just hung a curve right over the plate for you.  Do what you will.  ;) ]

Announcements / Lumber Depot restocked & active
January 09, 2017, 02:57:11 am
Howdy all!

I recently logged back in and resumed playing... and Ozy informed me a couple/few people had asked if I was still running my shop, because they were looking for wood.

I am playing regularly again, and I have the Lumber Depot restocked.

See y'all soon!
