¶   das a wild kaelasbirb, which likes to hang near other kaelas's and also poop frequently

Sukkarakan, Sep 2, 2015

¶   Dis birb (if you're in North America, dunno if other birbs of the world look similar) is a juvenile Yellow-Crowned Night Heron.  Here's what he'll look like when he's all growed up:

Very handsome birb, and very awesome.  They're excellent hunters.  But your guy sorta looks like his left flapper is drooping, which might mean it's broken.  If that's true, you should get in touch with a wildlife rehabilitation center in your area. They can tell you if you should bring it in to be treated.  Depending on where you are in the world, most of these birds are migrating right now, and he might have been left behind when he was injured. :(

Good luck with da birby and give updates!

¶   I still do. Yet even more.

Some years ago, rose-ringed parakeets have found their new homes in Amsterdam (NL) and it was well-known that they lived in the Vondelpark. Since a few years, some of these cute parakeets have found a nice tree in Haarlem, the city I live in. So even so often a few of those green little kites fly across my roof and it makes me smile.
Last week I found their home tree and it's just 15 minutes by bike. So I plan on visiting once in a while.

*These are not my own pictures and they do not resemble any Haarlem part at all.

Sukkarakan, Sep 12, 2015
Quick follow-up on this one:

¶   Reading many reactions under the Imgur post, it seems like this birb drank nectar which has been yeasting because the necter didn't replace the nectar for too long. It results in alcoholic nectar. Hence this birb is propably drunk.
During ancient times of the Commodore 64 (and also DOS PCs which I grew up with), computers didn't have in-built memory graphic cards yet, so they had to borrow RAM from the cpu, which was typically 16 or 32 kb. When you wanted to show a full-screen (320Ã--200px) 16-colour picture, you needed like 32 kb, which is impossible, because then you have no memory left for the rest of the code like running the actual command to show the picture. To avoid this problem, the screen was divided into colour cells of 8Ã--8 pixels. Each cell was able to show two different colours (because binary data + information about which colours to use).
This method was used to make both pixel artwork and game scenery and it often comes out great, thanks to the latent effort of the artist.

Look at this gem:

Because artwork with lots of effort in it + birds = instant win.

warm people rock birb

Sukkarakan, Dec 31, 2015

Found one of these guys yesterday, near a friend's house in Wasilla. It's called a Murre. And it was way too far inland for him to be around. At first I thought his wings were broken or something was wrong with him because he tried to flay away but couldn't. My friend helped me catch him with a sweatshirt and a cardboard box and I took him to the nearest animal hospital. They said they don't take in wild animals but put me on the phone with fish and game. They said that right now there are a lot of these little guys spotted in the Mat Su borough. They've come down from the North because of high winds and  lack of food do to climate change or something. They also told me that there is a place in Anchorage (about an hour away) that is taking them in to be rehabilitated and reintroduced into the wild. So I headed toward anchorage (I was going that way anyway to pick up my wife so it all worked out perfectly) On the way there, I could tell he was not happy, so remembering that music soothes the savage beast, I decided to sing to him the whole way into town, singing bird and flying-themed songs like Freebird-Lynyrd Skynyrd, Fly Away-Lenny Kravits, That's Life-Frank Sinatra, I Believe I Can Fly-R. Kelly, etc, until we reached the animal shelter. Apparently, many of these little guys are starving to death up here because they are water birds and cannot fly without open water (which would explain why he was unable to fly away from us, and why he would throw his legs back and slide on his belly).  I hope whatever is causing this, they will eventually find a solution.

TL,DR: I found dis birb. He looked so haggard, so I sang birb songs an' saved his fluffy ass. Turns out, they all over tha place an' shouldn't be.

¶   DAMMIT, NOW YOU KNOW!

uh_oh_spaghettio, Jun 25, 2016

Okey, so i'm guessing most of you guys know what a mockingbirb is? Well, this is a story about a Mocking Birb...

It was a warm summer day in holland; ants frolicking in their hordes, weeds withering under the burning sun, a lone chicken standing in the middle of the freshly planted flowers. A single guy, only 24 years old, rests his buttocks in a lounge-chair, enjoying the sun, minding his own business.
He leans forward to grab his glass for a sip when he feels something landing on his shoulder. As he freezes his movement to slowly turn his head, a loud chirp startles him, and the resulting movement startles the birb in a way that makes him playful, rather than fearful. The guy feels a sharp peck against his cheek and yelps, as quietly as he can, in surprise. The birb reacts in a way he didn't expect. He flies away, sits on the back of a chair close-by and starts to chirp straight at him.
As he stands up to make some evidence with his camera, unfortunately, the birb flies away, not to be seen again (up till now).

^ True story. I wish i had proof though T-T ^
